English isn't just a subject. It's the way we tell our stories, express our ideas and make sense of the world. My aim isn't simply to help students achieve better grades (although that often follows!); it's to help them find confidence in their own voice. Whether we're exploring Shakespeare, preparing for Oxbridge interviews or building confidence in professional communication, my lessons are always tailored to the individual, because no two learners are ever the same.

My enthusiasm for the subject is, I hope, contagious rather than simply alarming.

Writing has always been at the heart of what I do. I've written for BBC Radio 4 (Mucking In, 2022; Skeletons in the Cupboard, 2021), developed original television scripts and worked on projects ranging from comedy and horror to drama. What fascinates me isn't simply finding the right words; it's discovering the unique voice of a character, a narrator or an entire imagined world. Whether I'm helping someone else shape their story or creating one of my own, I'm always asking the same question: what is the most truthful, engaging and distinctive way for this voice to be heard?
